How Hypnotherapy Can Change Stubborn Habits Fast

Hey everyone, Krystal here, and for those of you who don’t know me, I’m a certified clinical hypnotherapist. In this video I’m going to talk about how hypnotherapy can help you change stubborn habits more quickly, easily, and successfully – with permanent results.

In hypnotherapy, we work from the subconscious part of the mind. Think of the subconscious as a library or a storehouse of information, skills, behaviors, habits, belief systems, and fears. And whatever is in the subconscious will be acted out automatically by the body, without you having to think about it.

So remember when you were a little kid and you first learned how to tie your shoes. It wasn’t the easiest thing: you didn’t have the motor skills, you really had to think about what you were doing while you were doing it. But you were a kid, and so you were having fun. You wanted to learn.

Fast forward as an adult, now you can tie your shoes and think about other things at the same time. Well that’s because it’s a subconscious skill – it’s an automatic skill – you don’t have to think about it to do it.

Well, the interesting thing about children is that they tend to learn from the subconscious part of their mind. So up until about the age of 7, they are in a theta brainwave state. And theta is the domain of the subconscious and it is associated with easier faster learning. You soak up information and skills like a sponge – or like a child.

Now the other interesting thing about the subconscious is that it can override the conscious mind’s desire. So let’s say you want to stop smoking or stop binge eating, and there’s a subconscious belief that it is safer or more beneficial for you to continue that unwanted behavior. Well more than likely, the subconscious is going to win out.

So even though you really want to make this change and adopt a healthier lifestyle, the subconscious is going to win and cause you to act automatically. This is where self-sabotage comes in or what sometimes feels like an invisible block – or why you are good for a few days, weeks, or months and then you fall back into old habits. It’s because nothing really changed on the subconscious level.

In hypnotherapy, I will guide you from the conscious mind (beta brainwave activity) into your subconscious (the alpha and theta brainwave activity, and in some cases gamma or delta). From here we can remove those beliefs or fears that have been blocking or slowing your progress and not only remove them, but we can add in suggestions that support the outcome you’re seeking. And then of course now that you’re learning from the subconscious part of the mind instead of the conscious mind, learning becomes easier and faster and it happens with less effort – and it’s also more enjoyable.
